Description
Kelpie is a limited-edition whisky released in 2017 by Ardbeg to celebrate Ardbeg Day. It is named after a legendary water demon and is the first Ardbeg whisky to be matured in Black Sea oak casks and then married with traditional Ardbeg aged in ex-bourbon barrels. It is non-chillfiltered and bottled at 46% ABV. The nose is powerful with peat, dark chocolate, smoked fish, seaweed, and a sharp herbal note. The palate offers a peppery mouthfeel with treacle toffee, Turkish coffee, smoky bacon, and dark chocolate. There is also a burst of peachy fruit, hickory wood, clove oil, and black olives. The finish is long with flavors of clove, tar, and toffee. The bottle size is 750ml.

Nose:Powerful with oily peat, dark chocolate, smoked fish, hints of seaweed, and a curious, sharp herbal note. Waves of spicy black pepper along withsome classic Ardbeg notes, such as creamy coffee, smoked fudge and pine resin.
Palate:A peppery mouthfeel is followed by treacle toffee, Turkish coffee, smoky bacon and lots of dark chocolate. A curious burst of peachy, estery fruit, hickory wood, clove oil and a suggestion of black olives.
Finish:A long finish with deep flavours of clove, tar, and rich toffee.
