Description
This book is a study of poetry in Indian languages, with a focus on secular poetry written in the vernaculars. It examines how poetry participates in the political and cultural processes of nation-making.
Covering the two major north Indian languages - Hindi and Punjabi - along with poetry in Indian English, this is a study of about 150 poetry collections in these languages. It studies secular poetry written in the so-called vernaculars, with critical attention to its participation in the political as well as cultural processes of nation-making.
