The HP C7980A is an
SDLT-1 tape cartridge with a capacity ranging from 110 GB 160 GB native and 220 GB 320 GB compressed depending on the drive it is being used with. The HP C7980A is compatible with both the SDLT 220 and SDLT 320 tape drives in both read/write formats. For SDLT 600 drives the compatibility with HP C7980A tape media only extends to read mode. Similarly transfer rates for the HP C7980A also range between 11 MB/s and 16 MB/s native and 22 MB/s and 36 MB/s compressed depending on the drive it is being used with. HP has a higher standard of testing for products such as the HP C7980A SDLT-1 tape therefore HP products are known to be highly compatible and also as or more rigorous than other products.
