Description
The essence of the Buddhist worldview is contained in the Four
Noble Truths. As introduction the author explores basic Buddhist
concepts such as samsara (relative, conventional), nirvana
(ultimate) and no-self. Then with his eloquent clarity Rob guides
us through the truths - First Noble truth - How to identify the
causes of our difficulties and suffering in life (dukkha). Second
Noble truth: How the process of confusion and delusion arises in
our minds and is unwittingly sustained. Third Noble truth: The
teaching on cessation of egocentric suffering (nirodha) which leads
to nirvana. Fourth Noble truth: The path to freedom - the Middle
Way. If we apply these truths we start working with the world in a
spacious, expansive way. We start seeing how we keep ourselves on
the treadmill of samsara and how a change of view reveals nirvana,
the totality of our true nature.
